Dear Parents,
Enclosed is an order form for the SummerSkills workbooks and a letter
of explanation. While we highly endorse their content, the review books
are not mandatory. Our intentions last year were pure in requiring them.
We wanted to help your children retain their skills.
However, they were a big flop and we appreciated hearing from parents
who explained to us the pressure they imposed on their family life and
that – most important – free time to be creative and “family.” Your eloquence
in explaining your position as your children’s summer teachers along with
our reservations about the time commitment made us rethink our summer
requirement. We will still have required reading lists.
Workbooks can be ordered if you wish.
Samples are in the school office if you need a reminder of what the books
are like or if you are a new family. When ordered through school, there
is a price break!
